About Us
Cowboy Dave, a wholesome wise old elder, has been around a while. He has spent many years learning from his surroundings, the weather, and the animals he cares for. His stories include his faithful animal companions who sometimes take care of him. Jack, his horse, and his best friend Charlie, the cow dog are always adding a bit of fun to the story. They spent many years together learning powerful life lessons, which Cowboy Dave now passes on to the young ones who gather at “The Cowboy Hideaway.”
“The Cowboy Hideaway” is a 103-year-old barn where Cowboy Dave relaxes away from the herd. He spends his time sharing his life experiences with his small audience of country kids. Your children get to listen in on the lesson of the day and spend time with Cowboy Dave in the Hideaway, while he and his young friends enjoy showing you what life around the barn is all about.
Cowboy Dave’s lessons are taught through stories. They are told from the perspective of the “Real Cowboy” based on his life experiences. His unique “Poetic Cowboy Rhyme” allows him to connect with the children, who learn the principles, values and standards every parent wants their child to use when making decisions on their own. Dave’s stories are the morals and ethics which were taught to him by his parents and his experiences as a farm boy and a cowboy. Cowboy Dave’s definition of a “Real Cowboy” is… a boy that watches cows. Not the one’s you see on TV riding them bucking broncs and chasing those cattle wide open.
David Mann otherwise known as Cowboy Dave, has been a professional fire fighter with the Omaha Fire Department for 19 years. He has spent his first 25 years living on a rural farm and working out west as a Cowboy. He now lives in Omaha with his true love, Dana his wife of 22 years, and their two children, Rachel and Paul.
Dave has given hundreds of Fire S.A.F.E. (Students Achieving Fire Education) presentations for the fire department over the last 12 years. While his passion for writing and performing has ever been present, giving the Fire S.A.F.E. presentations has brought his enthusiasm full circle.
“Seeing the positive outcomes I was able to effect on children as a fire fighter did two things for me. It inspired me to follow the interest in performing I have always had. I also realized I could use my zeal for performing to pass on the wholesome traits of respecting your elders, manners, and demonstrating self-control to affect other positive outcomes in children as Cowboy Dave.”

“I have a three-year-old son who learned how to use the touch mouse on my lap top after viewing Cowboy Dave’s sample videos on your web site. He figured out where to click to get “the music” or “the story” and has visited your site often. Kamden loves Cowboy Dave! My other two boys, ages 6 and 8 have also enjoyed Cowboy Dave’s Life Lesson of Respect. Thanks for making learning good social skills so fun! We hope to be able to see you in person when you are in the area.” -Kristi Bose
